(1) Short problem description:
XML directory functionality limited by truncation
(2) Longer problem description (what happens):
XML-directory is implemented but not useful due to Cisco bugs.
XML directories are truncated to some small number of lines, which I
can't remember at the moment, but I believe was 32, before being
displayed. The typical corporation has more than 32 employees,
and this limits the utility of the "directory" to virtual unusability.
Some people have done work-arounds where you do successive hierarchical
sets of 26, drilling down letter-by-letter, which is really gross.
Some people have used the "paging" hack which Cisco introduced after
the discovery of this problem, but it's too gross to even begin to
describe.
Some people write really clever XML which sends a query back from the
phone to a smart directory, and returns a reply with the
closest-matching 32 names to the query. Which is a lot of work,
and still isn't a "directory".
(7) Would you classify this as:
(A) Bug/malfunction: Can not deploy before fixed.
Can't make a directory unless you fire all but thirty-two of your employees.
