Info from Cisco:
Under the network settings, there is an option to erase configuration.
This will totally wipe out all of configuration. DHCP will be turned
on, but no data will be stored. The phone will send out a Discover or
Request message upon bootup as a broadcast waiting for a DHCP server to
respond.
[settings][network configuration][erase confgiuration]
You will have to unlock the config first.
(Patrik see a problem with this, as erasing the config is not what one
want in some cases. Possibly only a new IP address is needed at the new
location as the config can not be downloaded using tftp for security
reasons. I am still investigating.)
(1) Short problem description:
The 7960 stick to old DHCP information.
(2) Longer problem description (what happens):
After having moved 7960 phone from one network to another, it will
stubbornly stick to its old DHCP server address, so hard that it will
cease to function. After powering the phone up, it will be stuck with
the "Configuring IP" animation in the window.
(3) Possible solution (what did you expect):
The 7960 would stop trying with only the old address, and instead,
after a number of attempts, release and do a moregeneric DHCP request.
(5) Workaround used currently (if applicable):
Unlock the phone settings, and do a manual release from the settings
menu, then power-cycle.
(7) Would you classify this as:
(B) Bug/malfunction: Ok to deploy with workaround (see 5)
