(1) Short problem description:
Need ability for control of screen at any time
(3) Possible solution (what did you expect):
An XML URL needs to be able to be passed to a 7960 at any time, such
that the phone will request that URL and perform the actions dictated
by the commands contained in the XML document. While passing this
data during an "INVITE" seems to make sense, it is also the case that
this ability
should be able to be used at any time, and not simply on inbound
calls. Using the "NOTIFY" message for this XML URL delivery seems
at first glance to be the most suitable method, as it can be sent at
any time regardless of the status of the phone or direction of a call.
Basic security should be implemented as to what servers (IP range?
which proxies?) the phone will honor XML URLs, so as to prevent
undesired spamming of phones by remote requests.
(6) The behaviour wanted exists in product (name manufacturer and
product as exactly as possible):
Exists in SKINNY images of Cisco phones.
(7) Would you classify this as:
(B) Missing feature: Can not
deploy before fixed
