Info from Cisco:
Already added in Firmware 6.0 which is beta right now (Sept -03).
(1) Short problem description:
Speed dial or customizable buttons
(3) Possible solution (what did you expect):
The line appearance buttons need to be able to be configured as speed
dial buttons, or preferably configurable via XML. Most people have only
one or two lines, not six. The 7960 has the nice feature of six
buttons on the right side of the screen. The remaining buttons
should be able to be used in a configurable manner. Speed dial
buttons would be nice, or alternately it would be useful to accept
NOTIFY triggers so that statuses of other lines can be viewed. As
an example, I have button 1 for "my" line. Button #2 is "Bob",
and button #3 is "Nancy". If Nancy is on the phone, the upstream
server would send a NOTIFY to my phone saying that button "Nancy" is
off the hook, so at a glance I can see if Nancy is busy or not.
If I press the "Nancy" button, I would ring her line. This,
again, is functionality that is standard in any normal PBX but has been
"removed" in the implementation of a Cisco-based PBX SIP platform.
(5) Workaround used currently (if applicable):
Currently our workaround is a small web-page that auto-refreshes with
the status of all the phone lines
(6) The behaviour wanted exists in product (name manufacturer and
product as exactly as possible):
Any major PBX platform and in the Skinny image for the 7960.
(7) Would you classify this as:
(B) Missing feature: Can not deploy before fixed
