More data needed:


Please capture the following:

    - detailed trace log from ATA
    - debug sip-message error from 7960 phone


(1) Short problem description:

Cisco 7960 and 7940 do not work with net2phone SIP service, but Cisco ATA does work.

(2) Longer problem description (what happens):

Phone fails to authenticate.  If you have a net2phone account where an ATA works, just try to do the same configuration with a 7960.  When setting up the account with net2phone you have to request a "linksys" account.  I could provide a trace, but this is easily reproducible and working with net2phone probably has other business context issues between Cisco and Net2Phone Inc.

(3) Possible solution (what did you expect):

The only solution was to use an ATA instead.

(4) How to reproduce (if possible / applicable):

100% reproducable.  Get a net2phone account provisioned to work with an ATA.  Verify it works with the ATA.  Then try to configure a 7960 to work with the same account.

(5) Workaround used currently (if applicable):

no workaround.

(7) Would you classify this as:

(A) Bug/malfunction: Can not deploy before fixed

This is an interoperability bug.
