Den här låg i min inbox i morse. Hur seriöst är det att skicka ut en påminnelse om domänförnyelse från en hotmail-adress?

Och utan att berätta vem som är avsändare?

Om detta går till innehavare som inte förstår domännamnsvärlden är det säkert risk att de betalar utan att få ett smack för pengarna och sen går domänen ut i det svarta hålet där det blir dyrt att få tillbaka den. Att sedan förnyelseavgiften på 75 dollar på ett år är hutlös gör ju inte saken bättre.

Får ni ett sånt här mail – vänd er till det företag ni normalt har som kontakt för era domännamn och be dem kolla upp er domän. Har ni missat att betala en förnyelse så hinner de hjälpa er. Den domän som detta mail rörde förfaller inte nu som man lätt förleds att tro av texten utan i september – det är alltså gott om tid kvar att förnya och enligt normala rutiner.
